Why we often have ground beef in stock

Some people notice that we often have ground beef available even when other beef cuts sell out. We thought we’d share why that happens.
Different beef cuts come from animals at different stages of life. Steaks and roasts usually come from younger animals raised specifically for those cuts, which means there are only so many available at a time.
Ground beef works a little differently.
When cattle finish their breeding years or are no longer part of our herd, they are processed into ground beef. This is part of responsible farming and helps ensure nothing goes to waste. It also allows us to use the whole animal respectfully — something that’s very important to us.
Because of this, we’re often able to keep ground beef available more consistently than steaks or roasts.
This is one of the ways small family farms work differently than large suppliers. We raise our animals carefully and use what we produce responsibly, and we believe in being open about how your food is raised and where it comes from.
