Little by little
Some weeks have one big accomplishment. Other weeks are made up of a bunch of smaller ones that slowly move everything forward. This was one of those weeks.
The biggest change this week was getting the camper moved into its permanent spot among the trees. We also got the grass around it mowed, and seeing it all come together makes it feel much more like a campsite than just another project.
Of course, as soon as one thing was checked off the list, another challenge became obvious.
Since the camper will be staying tucked away in the trees, we really didn’t want guests using the bathroom inside it. Every booking would mean moving the camper out of its spot, emptying the holding tanks, refilling the fresh water, and putting it back into place. That seemed like a lot of extra work for something we could solve another way.
I have a bit of a habit of going off on tangents. I’ll have a list of things that need doing, and somehow I end up starting something completely different. It definitely drives Tony crazy sometimes.
This week, that tangent was building an outhouse.
Looking back, I think it was a pretty good one. An outhouse was something we needed before opening the campsite anyway, and once I got started, it came together quickly. It’s already over halfway finished, and now it feels like we’ve finally solved one of the biggest pieces of the puzzle.
Saturday had us all heading in different directions. Blake came with me to the Brandon Farmers Market while Tony headed to Winnipeg with deliveries. This was our second market of the season, and it really felt like summer had settled in. There were more people out and about, and the market had a much busier feel than last week.
While we were both busy, Bree got some special one-on-one time with Grams. I think it’s safe to say she was thoroughly spoiled for the day.
There’s still plenty to do before we’re ready to welcome our first guests, but every week another piece falls into place. It’s exciting to finally see this idea becoming a reality.
Sometimes it’s easy to focus on everything that’s left to do, but weeks like this are a good reminder to stop and appreciate how far we’ve already come. I can’t wait to share the finished space with all of you.
